Private Podiatrist / Chiropodist

A Combination of care and science to optimally improve the health of your feet

At West London Foot Clinic we highly recommend that everyone should have their feet checked annually by a HPC qualified Podiatrist. Our goal is to provide the highest level of patient care and podiatry in a relaxed stress free environment. (By appointment only. Emergency and out of hour appointments are also available).

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. Within the field of podiatry, practitioners can focus on many different specialty areas, including surgery, sports medicine, biomechanics, geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, or primary care.

Chiropodists (now often called podiatrists) diagnose and treat abnormalities of the lower limb. They give professional advice on the prevention of foot problems and on proper care of the foot. Patients will be of all ages from infants to the elderly. In the NHS particularly staff see many patients at high risk of amputation for example those who suffer from arthritis or diabetes.

Prevention is another area of their specialty amd there are many different health issues that a podiatrist attends to. They aim to correct any issues such as deformities if possible and prevent certain conditions from worsening or occurring as well as attempt to aid individuals in maintaining as normal an amount of functioning and mobility as possible. In addition, there are some specialist services – we work closely with surgical podiatrist’s and consultant doctors at local hospitals.

Foot care guide
What can foot care do for you?
  • Washing your feet
  • Moisturising your feet
  • Dealing with hard skin
  • Looking after your toe nails
  • Choosing the right socks and tights
  • Choosing sensible footwear
Did you know?
  • To carry your body through life, the human foot needs to be incredibly strong yet delicately sensitive, firm yet supple. It is a miracle of natural engineering.
  • The fully grown foot has more bones than any other part of the body, 26 to be precise. That’s in addition to 19 muscles, 107 ligaments and 250,000 sweat glands.
  • You put up to 7 times more pressure on your feet when you run.
  • We walk around the world four times in our lifetime.
  • In the act of walking your heel strikes the ground with a force equal to twice your body weight (and it does that thousands of times a day).
  • The average person walks 2,500 miles every year – that an annual journey equivalent to crossing the USA from New York to San Francisco.
  • With every mile you walk you shift approximately one hundred tonnes (the weight of a blue whale) just moving your own body weight forward.
